Some of us are meant to believe that school will teach you everything and make you successful.
That’s not true.
Today, I wanted to talk about some false assumptions about school that just aren’t true and why.
Let’s dive right in:
I wanted to save the best for last. I’ve added 5 things that are even more important than what was listed in the video in this exclusive article.
Here are 5 more Lies about school that aren’t true (these are NOT the same as the ones in the video):

1. School Will Prepare Me With Managing Money
Wrong.
In fact, a lot of millionaires I have studied got rich and then lost it all because they spent more than they made. They had to learn personal finance their own to be able to properly save and invest their money.
2. School Will Teach Me How To Be Rich
School teaches people how to get good at a specific skillset. This doesn’t equate to money.
Many people come out of business school and fail. In fact, the TV show Shark Tank often highlights businessmen and businesswomen coming out of the most prestigious business schools in the world like Harvard, who come up with sloppy ideas or can barely make money.
Some of them are so engrossed in theory and have very little street-smarts. They often get too arrogant in their knowledge and have overly optimistic perspectives on their success.
3. Education Ends When You Graduate
This is more of a personal assumption. I can’t blame schools for this.
Most people stop learning at 21 when they graduate college. The winners keep learning until they die. They get 40+ years of knowledge in while everyone else quits learning and just goes to work every day.
You get better each day by bettering yourself.

4. You Need Formal Education To Succeed
If you can’t afford an expensive education, some people think they are screwed.
That’s far from the case, especially in the modern age when there’s so much information online for free. Many people who have succeeded on Youtube are completely self-taught.
Many people who have succeeded on Youtube are completely self-taught. They learned video editing and everything else through other Youtube videos.
Even before Youtube, there was the billionaire Richard Branson. He dropped out of high school and learned everything about business on his own in the real world. Sometimes, the best education is through practical, real-world experience. The problem with the school system is that sometimes, the theory is different from actual real world application.
5. You Need To Go To A Prestigious School To Succeed
In the book Rework, they found that out of the top 100 CEO’s in the country, more came from a state university than a prestigious Ivy League university.
How many of you know someone who has discouraged themselves from even trying or believing that they will fail before they even try because they didn’t go to a high-level Ivy League school? I have.
Conclusion
School is important. But your education should not stop there.
Nor should you let schooling or lack thereof create limiting beliefs that stop you from achieving your true potential.
There are plenty of things that should be taught in school that aren’t that are more correlated to your wealth and happiness, like a growth mindset.

Points 3 and 4 are especially important.
No matter how old you are or where you are in life you absolutely have to keep learning. Fortunately there are more resources than ever available now and you can teach yourself pretty much anything and often for free.
You also don’t need to go to university. My university degree pretty much hasn’t helped me at all and in a lot of cases you’re probably better off doing a trade or starting your own business.
Don’t go to university just because you think you have to!
