What To Do When Life Gets Tough

How to deal with negative events

Have you ever feel useless? How about alone? Have you ever felt like a failure? What about frustrated?

Sometimes, you can be on top of the world. Everything is going awesome. You’re happy. You’re doing well. Everything you want to happen is in its place. And then, it happens.

Everything falls apart.

Life has handed you lemons. Maybe your dog died. Maybe you’re struggling just to live. Maybe horrible people have come into your life that you can’t get rid of. Maybe you realize you’re on a career or life path that won’t fulfill you.

What you’re struggling with right now is something many of us wrestle with — no matter our age, ethnicity, or income.

What do you do when you feel these horrible emotions?

You acknowledge it. And turn it into gold. You have the ability to make the absolute best of the worst situations.

The businessman Brian Tracy told me something that’s stuck with me in his Goal-setting book. He said that successful people get hit with negative events all the time just like everybody else.

The difference is that successful people deal with it.

You see, Brian used to think that all his problems would wash away once he got really rich. Well, he got rich. But the problems still came in different ways. These could include:

  • An unexpected health issue with signs of early death.
  • Struggles to maintain a relationship with your spouse, something money can’t buy.
  • Your struggles to be a great parent to a disobedient child.
  • Horrible people with nasty things to say that derail your day.

It doesn’t matter how “successful” someone appears. There will always be struggles they have to overcome because money can’t buy everything.

We all have tough times. And if we let ourselves buy into negativity, we could lose ourselves.

In today’s video, learn what Stephen Covey and Tony Robbins taught me to get back on track anytime you encounter tough circumstances or people.

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” –Viktor E. Frankl
